Thursday’s news revealed the U.S. Court of Appeals intends to overturn the preliminary injunction allowing 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports to race with charters while suing NASCAR over the 2025 Charter Agreement. If unopposed, the ruling takes effect on June 26th, resulting in both teams losing their charters before the Atlanta race weekend, impacting their finances and contracts with sponsors and drivers. Without charters, Open teams face challenges with grid spots, income disparities, and reliance on sponsorship, potentially operating in the red like struggling chartered teams. Nonetheless, losing charters doesn’t affect championship eligibility, on-track performance, or car numbers, leaving unanswered questions about the fate of the six charters held by the teams in question.
